Trustees’ Report for the year ending 31st March 2008

The Kelly Family Charitable Trust has been pursuing its decision taken last year to focus its grant giving on charities that nurture the potential of the family to create a supportive structure within the family unit, and has been concentrating on encouraging relevant applications with some success.  The investigations into creating a website to further publicise this decision and to facilitate the application process are now nearly completed, and the official website is expected to become live in the next few months.  The Trust has developed its own logo and has formalised its reporting procedures by creating a standard application form and grant progress reporting form.  These will be available on the website or by postal application.

The Trust is happy to be considering repeat applications as well as first-time applications, and now has several “old customers”.  Although the initial policy was to award grants up to £5,000, the Trust is increasingly giving grants exceeding this amount.

Notwithstanding the instability of the investment market, there have been sufficient funds to ensure that grant distributions have remained unaffected over this period.

During this reporting year the Trust has given a total of £94,300 over two grant rounds to the following charities:

  • Addaction
  • Benarty Cares
  • Brandon Centre
  • Children 1st
  • Coaching Highland
  • FAIR
  • First Step Community Project
  • Four Square
  • Hills Trust Home School Community Project
  • Home-Start Chorley
  • Hoole Lighthouse Centre
  • Mosac
  • MYPAS
  • Paisley Child Contact Centre
  • South Glasgow Childcare Partnership

The Kelly Family Charitable Trust continues to be indebted to its Trustees and Grants Administrator for their hard work and enthusiasm.

ON BEHALF OF THE TRUSTEES

Jennifer Kelly, Chairman Of Trustees

1st July 2008
